2024 Herringbone Syrah, Hawkes Bay
$34.99
Syrah Trophy winner at the 2025 Hawkes Bay Wine Awards
In words of Sam Kim, Wine Orbit –
“Splendidly fruited and inviting on the nose, showing Black Doris plum, blueberry, rich floral, warm spice, and roasted nut aromas. The palate displays excellent weight and a plump mouthfeel, wonderfully framed by silky texture and beautifully integrated tannins. Structured and harmonious with a persistent, sturdy finish.”
Herringbone
A boutique winery based in the Bridge Pa Triangle of Hawkes Bay, Herringbone is known for producing high-quality, single-estate wines that express the unique soils and climate of the region. Owned by Karen and Troy since 2016, the vineyard has vines that are over 20 years old and grows primarily Merlot, Syrah, Cabernet Franc, and Malbec. Their winemaking philosophy focuses on minimal intervention to let the vineyard’s qualities shine through, with Dan Brennan as their winemaker.
The vineyard benefits from unique red metal soils over an ancient riverbed and a microclimate sheltered by nearby Roys Hill. They aim to emphasize Syrah as a flagship wine and plan to expand with more varieties, focusing on quality and low environmental impact.
