Muirkirk Pinot Noir gives you a very textural wine, plenty of breadth and depth, with slightly darker flavours associated with Bannockburn yet with elegance and lightness that our Mount Edward house style brings. No filtration or fining, deposits may form. An elegant wine, 2016 brings a some smoothness and warmth, whilst still delicate, overall always a wine for people who enjoyed grace over concentration.
In Appearance: Bright ruby hue.
On the Nose: Sweetly fragrant bouquet shows red/black cherry, dried herb, earthy mushroom and warm spice aromas with hints of cedar and vanilla.
On the Palate: A soft and supple wine, lots of rich fruit with a good depth of flavour. Lovely acidity and fine tannins give the wine great length and structure whilst also making it very approachable on release.
Holding this wine for 4-5 years will start to see a change.

Mount Edward

Established in 1997 by Central Otago pioneer Alan Brady—also the founder of Gibbston Valley Wines—the winery began as a hands-on project focused on premium Pinot Noir and Riesling. Current owners John Buchanan and winemaker Duncan Forsyth took over in 2004, expanding into diverse varieties while upholding Brady’s ethos of minimal intervention and wild yeast fermentation.

Five BioGro-certified estate vineyards span Gibbston and Pisa sub-regions and soils range from glacial gravels to alluvial fans, yielding elegant, mid-weight style wines with fine tannins.
