The 2021 Herringbone Syrah was made from 100% hand harvested Syrah grapes from our vineyard. The fruit was in perfect condition after a long hot summer in the Hawkes Bay. After fermentation the wine was matured for 12 months in premium French oak barrels and is now ready for release.
This is the perfect wine to share now that the cooler months are upon us. It is smooth on the palate with some lovely berry notes up front and a nice subtle spice to finish. This wine will continue to improve in the bottle and will cellar well for 7 years but is ready to drink now if you can’t wait!
In appearance: Bright red with purple hue
On the Nose: Aromas of fresh cherry, and dark plum
On the Palate: smooth on the palate with some lovely berry notes up front and a nice subtle spice to finish
Food Pairing : Pair with charcuterie boards, slow cooked brisket or even your favourite pizza.
Herringbone
A boutique winery based in the Bridge Pa Triangle of Hawkes Bay, Herringbone is known for producing high-quality, single-estate wines that express the unique soils and climate of the region. Owned by Karen and Troy since 2016, the vineyard has vines that are over 20 years old and grows primarily Merlot, Syrah, Cabernet Franc, and Malbec. Their winemaking philosophy focuses on minimal intervention to let the vineyard’s qualities shine through, with Dan Brennan as their winemaker.
The vineyard benefits from unique red metal soils over an ancient riverbed and a microclimate sheltered by nearby Roys Hill. They aim to emphasize Syrah as a flagship wine and plan to expand with more varieties, focusing on quality and low environmental impact.
