Calle 23 Anejo Tequila 700ml (40%)
The Anejo is 100% agave and matured for 16 months in oak casks. The result is well-flavoured, with plenty of the vanilla sweetness from the cask coming through clearly, blending well with the vibrant personality of the agave.
In Appearance: Very pale gold colour.
On the Nose: Carnival-style fudge with lots of vanilla and sugar. Hints of coffee and spice.
On the Palate: Oak, tobacco and black coffee. With these strong flavours, you expect it to be rough and tumble, but the Calle 23 Añejo is smooth as silk.

Calle 23
Calle 23 is the brainchild of Sophie Decobecq, a French born biochemist and engineer. Sophie has been living in Mexico for the past 20 years and her love for agave and Tequila never stops growing.
Calle 23 starts with the careful selection of blue agave plants, sourced from ‘Los Altos de Jalisco’ (The Highlands) area, between the town of Tepatitlan and Arandas. In this area, the agave plants benefit from hot and sunny dry periods, followed by heavy rainy seasons, and a fertile soil, high in minerals, which produces richer and higher quality agaves, taking 7 to 9 years to reach full maturity.
Calle 23 is a highland tequila from Jalisco. Highland tequilas are known for their sweetness. Sophie distils each expression separately (Blanco, Reposado, Añejo) using combinations of different yeasts. This is very unusual.
