2022 Sam Harrop & Stepp Kalkstein Dry Riesling, Pfalz, Germany

The 2022 Kalkstein Riesling is a collaboration between Sam and his long-suffering friend and winemaker, par excellence – Gerd Stepp. The late ripening, noble Riesling variety is the greatest of all white varietals. This concentrated, dry style has a wonderful saline acidity that will help it evolve towards its apex in 2035.

In Appearance : pale straw or greenish-yellow tint in its youth
On the Nose : Fresh gala apples mingle with peach and fresh banana
On the Palate : superb fruit core with a nuanced floral, spice expression. Think of the freshest of fruit salads with a crisp, zesty finish. A wine with many layers or complexity bursting with citrus, apples, stone fruits and a mineral electric texture.

In Germany, those in the know believe the very best and most balanced expressions of dry Riesling reside in the Pfalz. The Kalkstein vineyard is one of the finest Riesling vineyards in this impossibly beautiful region.
